Aboutthe Role
The Related Arts Teacher is an experienced educator who fosters independence, self-discovery, and a love of learning in students. The responsibilities will encompass providing engaging instruction in various related arts subjects, fostering creativity, and nurturing students’ talents and interests beyond the core curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a strong interestin Montessori philosophy, a passion for teaching, the ability to engage and inspire young learners, and a creative approach to integrating related arts into the curriculum.
Keyresponsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Planning and Instruction
- Develop and implement a comprehensive related arts curriculum that meets the developmental needs of elementary-aged students.
- Plan and deliver dynamic lessons in related arts subjects
- Evaluate student progress and performance in related arts subjects through observations, projects, performances, and assessments, while offering timely feedback to both students and parents.
- Serve as a mentor and point of contact for a small group of students assigned at the beginning of the year.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore and develop their talents and interests in related arts.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed.
- Be a model of character and strive toward virtue for students
- Supervise students within the classroom and outside of the classroom: on the playground, during bathroom breaks, at lunchtime, and on field trips
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues by maintaining effective communication, collaborating, and actively participating in school activities.
- Prepare monthly progress reports and quarterly report cards
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff members to integrate related arts into the broader curriculum and support interdisciplinary learning experiences
- Participate in formal check-in with an assigned coach based on an approved cadence.
- Engage in teacher meetings, team planning, professional development, and data reviews
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree, in Education or a related field preferred
- Committed to the mission and core values of Invictus Nashville.
- Two or more years of effective teaching experience in urban schools in high-need communities
- Knowledge of curriculum content and children’s developmental needs
- Flexibility, initiative, and personal responsibility to work in a fast-paced startup environment
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Skills in instructional practices and classroom management for student achievement
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and other members of the Invictus Nashville community.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in teams with a wide range of individuals.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse learning community.
- Experience and evidence of ability to foster collaboration and teamwork among diverse groups of students.
This position may require up to 15% of travel.
