The Floater teacher will be responsible for providing a nurturing and safe setting for children at the preschool. This position will provide support for the teachers in their assigned classroom, guide the physical, mental, and emotional development of the children, and create a positive learning environment. The hours for this position are 9:30-5:30.
Floater Teacher Duties And Responsibilities- Provide an environment that is safe, positive, nurturing, and respectful of the children
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and curriculum
- Observe and assess the development of the children
- Develop and implement behavior management strategies
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences
- Maintain proper records, including documenting observations and milestones
- Ensure all safety regulations are followed
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom
- Model appropriate behaviors for children
- Work with a team of teachers to ensure a cohesive and quality learning environment
- Identify and adopt the most effective, active, creative teaching approaches for all students in line with current best practice and the ethos of Davidson Academy
- Understand the curriculum, design effective lesson plans, and use powerful instructional strategies to help students master the required content
- Work with other members of the faculty to apply consistent standards in curriculum planning and delivery, assessment, and moderation
- Display a strong commitment to integrating faith into the curriculum
- Create a stimulating learning environment, including displays of student work
- Establish classroom rules and ensure all students understand and follow them
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Prepare for all classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation
- Establish clear outcomes for all lessons, class work, and projects, and communicate these outcomes to students
- Assess the progress of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports and report cards as required
- Support the program of study using a variety of instructional techniques, media, and technology
- Take all necessary precautions to protect students, materials, and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by Davidson Academy
- Candidate must be 21 years or older
