Professor Practice faculty position in Civil Structural Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a full-time Professor of the Practice faculty position in Civil Structural Engineering. The appointment will be made at the assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor level, depending on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Ideal qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering (or closely related field), prior teaching experience, professional experience, and Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (or a plan to sit for the PE exam).

This is a term appointment, eligible for renewal, contingent on performance.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses on topics such as mechanics, structural engineering, analysis and design, and structural materials, and will develop additional courses as the civil engineering curriculum evolves to respond to the current and future needs of the civil engineering profession. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to teach graduate level courses to students and professionals in the master’s programs.

Additionally, the faculty member will participate in service to the Department and the School of Engineering, engaging in novel efforts to enhance their teaching mission and deepen undergraduate educational opportunities, and ensure continuation of the accreditation of the civil engineering program.
