Primary Duties And ResponsibilitiesThis position assists operations for the Watkins Community Education adult education programs. Community Education Assistants report to the Director of Community Education. Primary responsibilities include helping set up classrooms for evening community classes and weekend workshops, serving as teaching assistants for our teaching artists, assisting and welcoming community students, and helping with other community education tasks as needed. The main objective for this position is to ensure a great customer service experience for community members who participate in our programs.
Work hours are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and occasional weekends for 1-day workshops.
Preferred knowledge, skills, and personal qualifications:
- Positive, patient, perceptive, responsible, and resourceful individuals who are able to solve problems with little supervision
- Customer-service oriented with the communication skills necessary to interact effectively with colleagues, community students, and teaching artists
- Experienced or interested in fine arts or art education
- Arrive on time and be ready to work with a positive attitude
- Follow Watkins Community Education’s policies and protocol
- Assist teaching artists with set up needs including finding supplies, providing paperwork, and technical assistance
- Assist students in registration, finding supplies, questions about the building, and questions regarding the program
- Maintain clear, consistent, and respectful communication with Watkins staff members and teaching artists
- Check in with teaching artists periodically and observe classes
- Help prepare and distribute handouts or make announcements to classes as needed
- Help pickup and assist during classes as needed
- Organize storage area and supplies as needed
Must be enrolled as a student at Belmont University. Specify if the student must be a particular major or particular year in school.
