Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advise an equitable amount of the freshmen and new transfer students within the CEMB each semester during the first two semesters that will include:
  • Creating a plan of study and entering it into Degree Works
  • Finalizing the plan of study with the freshmen (either the first or second semester)
  • Educating the student on curriculum requirements, prereqs, campus resources, and all things regarding academic advising
  • Completing any and all substitution forms as needed for transfer students
  • Assists with the oversight of the CEMB advising email as well as front desk operations
  • Evaluate transcripts for incoming transfer students in the summer prior to their summer orientation date and communicate via email with them regarding what courses to take during the first semester
  • Assist with summer orientation advising sessions for both freshmen and transfers
  • Assist with student drop‑ins during registration week(s) each semester
  • Maintain student records as needed to document and facilitate the academic advising process and student completion of curriculum progression and degree requirements
  • Assist with graduation as needed

  • Ability to interpret academic transcripts, transfer credits, and undergraduate curriculum requirements
  • Functional mastery of SCT Banner, Web Xtender, Degree Works, and Microsoft Office Suite
Required Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Required Experience

Experience with undergraduate academic advising and degree progression planning.

The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check satisfactory to the University.
