Axiom Builders— The Role
Axiom Builders is striving to create a supportive, engaging and passionate safety culture across all of our construction sites. This is done through partnership with Superintendents and Project Managers, leveraging technology, continual training and development, semi-annual performance reviews and feedback processes and supporting individual growth.
This role requires availability for evenings and weekends to support first aid outside of standard hours.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and enhance safety by tracking issues, maintaining records of incidents, and suggesting improvements;
- Conduct orientations, training, and safety coordination for workers and subcontractors;
- Perform safety inspections, hazard assessments, and provide guidance on tool and equipment usage;
- Lead emergency response, manage First Aid resources, investigate incidents, and collaborate on safety record management.
- Two or more (2+) years related experience in a safety position acquired in a construction setting (residential ground-up construction preferred);
- OSHA 10 is mandatory, OSHA 30 preferred;
- Additional training in safety is an asset including but not limited to WHMIS, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, etc.;
- Thorough knowledge of applicable state legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety;
- Effective time management, organizational and problem-solving skills, including an understanding of accident prevention and cause analysis;
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Must be able to coach, facilitate and influence a cultural and behavioral change in the workplace regarding safety.
