Design Systems Builders (DSB), the self-performance, pre-engineered metal building division of T.W. Frierson, is seeking a skilled Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) Superintendent to join our collaborative and innovative team. At DSB, we partner with General Contractors, Developers, and End Users to furnish and erect pre-engineered metal buildings and other related steel components.

The PEMB Superintendent holds responsibility for supervising the total construction effort related to the pre-engineered steel component of construction, ensuring that a project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and required safety elements.

What You'll Do
  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and supervise multiple activities for project, including determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment needs, temporary power sources, and work schedule.
  • Coordinate work with different crafts and subcontractors, assuming responsibility for productivity, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Maintain liaison with estimator, engineer, architect, project manager, and client to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedule.
  • Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required.
  • Maintain awareness of safety rules and procedures among personnel, as well as identify safety hazards and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor employee compliance with safety requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintain cost control and understanding of project budget.
  • Document employees' actual hours worked and submit to Human Resources each week.
  • Assist supervisor and Human Resources by observing and reporting potential employee relations problems/issues.
  • Assist supervisor and Human Resources in counseling employees and administering disciplinary action.
  • Make recommendations for pay increases, promotions, demotions, terminations.
  • Perform additional assignments at supervisor's direction.
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid, state‑issued driver's license
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as a PEMB Superintendent
  • In-Depth knowledge and experience in PEMB erection and sequencing
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and shop drawings
  • Must have basic competencies in mathematics and be able to perform math operations rapidly and accurately
  • Excellent supervisory skills with ability to directly supervise up to 50 employees working in smaller teams.
  • Good interpersonal skills with customer‑service orientation as well as ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to produce quality work in an efficient manner with little supervision in an ever‑changing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet‑based applications
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, and mobile phone/radio
  • Ability to operate pickup truck, transit & level, scissor lift, boomlift, forklift, and hand tools
  • Current OSHA Construction 30‑Hour certification
  • Current basic first aid/CPR certification
  • Must complete Tennessee Drug‑Free Workplace Supervisor Training within 6 months of being in position
  • Willingness to travel as needed for occasional out‑of‑town assignments.
