The Role We are hiring a Senior Accountant to serve as the primary owner of day-to-day accounting execution, payroll processing, payment controls, and finance-related internal support.
This is not a transaction-only role.
This position carries real ownership and authority.
You will act as the gatekeeper for payroll accuracy, payment approvals, spend enforcement, and accounting controls, ensuring the business operates with discipline and precision as we scale.
You will work directly with the Director of Finance & Administration and have visibility into leadership-level planning, while serving as the operational backbone of the Accounting function.
What You’ll Own Payment Review, Approvals & Spend Enforcement (25%) Serve as primary approver for accounts payable batches, reimbursements, and card activity within delegated authority Detect and prevent duplicate payments, unsupported expenses, and policy violations Enforce spend and expense policies consistently, including confidently rejecting non-compliant transactions Escalate exceptions or judgment calls as appropriate Payroll Ownership & Controls (25%) Own the end-to-end payroll process, including review, funding requirements, submission, and post-run verification Partner with HR to ensure timecards, pay changes, deductions, and benefits updates are complete before processing Maintain payroll checklists, cutoffs, and documentation standards Identify and resolve anomalies before payroll is submitted Revenue Share & Commission Payouts (15–20%) Own monthly and event-based payout processes, including venue revenue share and sales commissions Maintain payout schedules and approval documentation Review calculations for accuracy and alignment with agreements Coordinate funding and confirm completion Cross-Functional Finance Support (15–20%) Serve as the primary point of contact for internal finance questions Set expectations around documentation, timing, and approvals Follow up proactively to close loops and prevent dropped items Balance responsiveness with strong policy enforcement Accounting Oversight & Process Improvement (10%) Provide day-to-day work direction and review for accounting execution Ensure consistent application of chart of accounts and location tagging Maintain clean, audit-ready records Identify recurring issues and improve processes Other Duties & Special Projects (5%) Document workflows to support scaling operations Support leadership reporting, audits, and external reviews Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support growth Role allocation percentages reflect approximate allocation and may shift based on close cycles and business needs.
QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience Hands-on payroll ownership experience Experience reviewing and approving work, not solely transaction entry Strong accounting judgment and attention to detail Proficiency in Quick Books Online Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills Preferred:
Experience in a growing or multi-state organization
Experience with Ramp or modern expense management tools Exposure to cross-functional finance support Skills & Attributes You will thrive here if you:
