We’re seeking an Accounting Specialist - Accounts Receivable to join our Accounting Department. We are looking for someone who maintains a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail and enjoys collaborating with a team while also excelling independently. This is a full-time, hybrid position based at our Brentwood corporate office, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
General Functions
Responsible for daily cash flow reporting and premium cash application. General Ledger responsibilities primarily relate to cash, loss, and loss adjustment expense (LAE). This includes journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliation of system data to the general ledger.
Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

- Assist with Accounts Receivable function in a backup capacity.
- Verify that daily accounts receivable processes are complete and accurate.
- Prepare routine reports related to Cash Receipts.
- Apply daily premium cash receipts.
- Process premium Telephone Payments and Seminar Returns.
- Review and enter policyholder accounts adjustments.
- Review monthly reports related to premium cash application.
- Process Loss and LAE requests submitted by Claims.
- Perform analysis of various expenses assigned.
- Comply with internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual regulatory filings for various states.
- Assist in the preparation of annual and quarterly financial statement filings.
- Assist with budget as needed.
- Prepare various items for financial statement audit as needed.
- Assist other Accounting staff during peak periods.
- May participate in cross-functional teams. Meet or exceed supervisor’s expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.
- Contribute to SVMIC’s success by identifying opportunities and making recommendations that may lead to improved processes.
- Regular and predictable on-site attendance required.
- Ability to work remotely as business needs dictate.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Basic understanding of accounting principles (especially AR and cash application).
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and recognize when and how to effectively collaborate with others.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and a variety of software programs.
- Highly focused, well-organized with good critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to retain and recall information readily.
- Ability to research, read, comprehend, analyze, apply, and distill large amounts of complex information into useful tools, presentations and/or conversations.

Education
Associate Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
