SHR Talent is partnering with a client in Nashville, TN in its search for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant role is a great opportunity to develop managerial and financial reporting skills in an active, collaborative, and growing work environment. As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the month-end close process, performing, and documenting accounting research, coordinating external audits, ensuring proper revenue recognition is carried out, and supporting and analyzing department budgets.
The Senior Accountant will report to the Director of Corporate Accounting, Senior Director, and Controller, and you will partner with the accounting, finance, and operation teams to develop accounting positions and evaluate transactions under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
To be successful in this role as the Senior Accountant, you should possess strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to research technical accounting matters, the ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion, strong problem-solving skills that offer alternative solutions to each problem, proven collaboration skills, and the ability to work with a sense of urgency while prioritizing action items.
An ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant role is someone who has strong communication skills, is detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, geographically separated, cross-functional team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the accounting team, ensuring proper accounting, revenue recognition, and reporting is carried out at each of the Company’s locations
- Oversee and manage the month-end close process
- Produce monthly operating reports
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Coordinate timely preparation and review of month-end balance sheet reconciliations, consolidation activities, and financial reporting
- Develop, document, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Identify areas of process improvement, recommend changes, and execute improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Master’s degree, preferred but not required
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, or working toward Certified Public Accountant (CPA) CPA license preferred
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, best practices, and the ability to research and document accounting and financial topics, required
- Working knowledge of Workday or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, a plus
