Position: Stepdown Registered Nurse | Nashua, New Hampshire

Overview

An opportunity is available for an experienced registered nurse specializing in progressive care step-down units. This contract position is situated in Nashua, NH, offering a challenging and rewarding environment caring for predominantly cardio-thoracic and vascular surgical patients, along with some medical progressive care cases.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and care for patients requiring telemetry and step-down level attention
  • Manage cardiac drips such as dobutamine, dopamine, and Levo in applicable cases
  • Handle equipment including IV pumps, telemetry monitors, chest tubes, bladder scanners, and pacing devices
  • Perform or assist with procedures such as pericardiocentesis with drain management, thoracentesis, and chest tube insertion
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems
Qualifications & Experience
  • Current RN licensure with specialized experience in progressive care or telemetry units
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and comfort with chest tube care is mandatory
  • Preferred experience includes administration of cardiac drips and managing external pacemakers
  • Certifications required: ACLS and BLS
Work Schedule
  • Every third weekend work required, no on-call duties
  • Stable shift coverage supporting day and night progressive care patients
