About the JobThe Medical Assistant is responsible for performing delegated clinical and administrative functions in the care of patients, under the direct supervision of a provider and Practice Manager.
What You’ll Do- Participate in patient care in person, via telephone, and telehealth under provider supervision.
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing.
- Collect and screen patient history and health-related information; communicate findings to providers.
- Document care activities accurately in the medical record.
- Assist with pre-visit preparation, including coordinating testing and patient outreach.
- Perform administrative duties such as medical records and patient service tasks as needed.
- Mentor and train new staff as directed.
- Attend ongoing education programs and maintain annual competencies.
- Adhere to safety, infection control, HIPAA, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintain current certifications, including Basic Life Support.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Preferred:
Associate’s Degree.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Preferred:
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA AAMA), or A
-OE.
- Previous experience in a patient-facing role required.
- 3 years of experience required without completion of a Medical Assistant program.
- Preferred:
One year experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting; direct patient care experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, office workflow, EMR systems, and Windows-based applications.
- Skilled in standard precautions, confidentiality, interpersonal communication, and time management.
- Ability to multitask, adapt to changing environments, and work as part of a team.
