Business Need & Opportunity The Precision Strike (PS) engineering organization is undergoing an exciting transformation to strengthen alignment with key business initiatives, optimize our capabilities, and capitalize on the growing demand for Precision Guidance & Sensing Solutions.

This newly created Engineering Operations & Capabilities Director role is a critical part of this evolution, leading highly skilled teams that support the Navigation & Sensor Systems (NSS) and Precision Guidance & Sensing Solutions (PGSS) product lines. Job Description We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Operations & Capabilities Director to lead a diverse group of engineers, technicians and professionals within the business area. This highly visible, senior director-level position is responsible for setting and driving engineering strategies and key capabilities that support efficient delivery of engineering products and data items. You will lead a borderless team and be responsible for talent acquisition, talent development, and ensuring program success.

A key aspect of this role is driving strategic initiatives to improve organizational performance, manage engineering lab facilities, and develop robust test solutions. You will lead a large highly skilled organization through a transformation embracing model-based engineering and digital engineering aligning with the overarching BAE Systems Engineering organization's direction.

Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Team Development:
Lead and grow a best-in-class team fostering engineering and operational excellence through best practices, modern product realization methods, metrics, and continuous learning.
* Strategic Alignment:
Partner with other business area leaders to ensure alignment with business objectives and strategy.
* Process Improvement:
Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, meet cost reduction objectives, support execution, and promote agility.
* Strategic Planning:
Establish goals and standards of performance, create budgets, staffing plans, and develop short and long-term strategic roadmaps.
* Performance Management:
Administer performance, compensation, and recognition programs in alignment with business needs, company values, and budgets.
* Technology Leadership:
Understand industry trends and best practices to ensure BAE Systems develops and maintains technical differentiators. Provide technical leadership and champion the adoption of modern systems development technologies (MBSE, Cloud computing, etc.).
* Project Support:
Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor business area performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the business area. Required Education, Experience, & Skills
* Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering field and 12+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Leadership & Strategy:
* Ability to formulate a vision, strategy and implement action plans to achieve goals.
* Extensive technical/engineering leadership experience and ability to create alignment within the organization.
* Experience in leading across organizational boundaries in a matrixed organization achieving results.
* Technical Expertise:
* Experience with digital engineering, model-based engineering, Dev Sec Ops , agile methodology.
* Experience with product development and the DoW product development lifecycle including core engineering disciplines (systems, software, hardware, and test) and associated engineering process.
* Practical understanding of cyber security & assurance in engineering workflows, product development, and digital design environment infrastructures.
