The mission of the Mechanical Engineer is to design, develop, and deliver high-performance electro-optical and opto-mechanical systems that enable Clear Align’s customers to see clearly and act decisively in mission-critical defense, aerospace, and commercial environments. This role translates complex system requirements into manufacturable, reliable designs while collaborating across disciplines to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions.
In Your First Year, You Will:First 90 Days – Integration & Technical Contribution
- Become fluent in Clear Align’s electro-optical product portfolio, system architectures, and design standards.
- Contribute to active programs by supporting mechanical designs, analyses, and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system-level requirements and constraints.
- Apply GD&T, material selection, and design-for-manufacture principles to assigned designs.
Within 6 Months – Ownership & Execution
- Independently design and release opto-mechanical components or subsystems.
- Lead mechanical aspects of assigned programs and ensure SWaP-C alignment.
- Support proposal activities with technical concepts and risk assessments.
- Troubleshoot design challenges and support current and legacy products.
By 12 Months – Impact & System-Level Contribution
- Deliver complete mechanical designs that integrate seamlessly into electro-optical systems.
- Influence system-level trade studies and design decisions.
- Serve as a trusted technical partner to cross-functional teams.
- Designs meet performance, tolerance, manufacturability, and reliability requirements.
- Designs transition smoothly from concept to production with minimal rework.
- System-level risks are identified and mitigated early.
- Cross-functional teams rely on your technical input.
- Customer requirements are consistently met or exceeded.

- Experience designing mechanical or opto-mechanical components
- Strong GD&T and tolerance analysis skills
- Knowledge of materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in Solid Works or similar CAD software
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
- US Person status required with ability to obtain Security Clearance
