Microwave Techniques is a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of OEM industrial microwave processing equipment, used in food and various other industries. We have physical locations in Gorham, Maine, Nashua, New Hampshire, and Hamburg, Germany.
Our Nashua location is searching for a Field Service Engineer who can install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex equipment and systems at customer sites worldwide, ensuring their proper operation. 1 to 2 years of on‑site training will be provided before deploying into the field.
Core ResponsibilitiesThis position will require a minimum of 50% travel to customer sites worldwide. You will be working with customers over the phone and on‑site.
- Setting up and installing new equipment, systems, and hardware at customer locations.
- Maintenance & Repair
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose faults, and repair industrial microwaves.
- Identify and resolve technical issues to ensure seamless operation of equipment.
- Communicate with clients, train them on equipment operation, and provide on‑site support; establish positive working relationships and provide consultative services to strengthen partnerships and penetrate business opportunities.
- Write service reports and keep records of equipment problems, maintenance activities, and parts used.
- Factory Assistance
- Assist in the manufacturing area building industrial microwave equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Basic programming knowledge and abilities
- Testing/debugging high power electronics (110
VAC 480 VAC, and 20,000 VDC) - Safety compliance - including lock‑out tag‑out, arc flash, and PPE as required
- Capability to work autonomously and manage time effectively while traveling to various customer sites
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; keep management informed of any operational/system issues, client expectations, safety matters, etc., in a timely manner
- Writing/utilizing Operations manuals to support systems and equipment
- 5+ years in a manufacturing and/or high‑power environment (preferred)
- 3 years of related experience required; 2 years onsite client experience preferred
- Associate’s degree in engineering, electronics, or related technical discipline preferred
- Strong knowledge of high voltage systems, large microwaves, generators, etc. (preferred)
- Professional demeanor and ability to perform work on assignment is critical
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Strong documentation skills that are accurate and time sensitive
- Customer service and solution‑driven mindset
- Ability to manage travel details, work schedules, and accommodation needs efficiently

This position is normally Monday through Friday but requires occasional weekends and holidays depending on customer demand. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and supplied by Microwave Techniques, including a safety shoe and safety glasses reimbursement program.
