ATC Instructor

Position Overview

Pen Bay is looking for an experienced Air Traffic Control Instructor‑I to join our Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team in Nashua, New Hampshire (ZBW BOSTON ARTCC). The instructor will support air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

• Deliver the highest quality classroom instruction to developmental air traffic controller students and Certified Professional Controllers (CPC).
• Consistently provide effective instruction and mentoring for students and Remote Pilot Operators (RPO).
• Participate in curriculum design and development.
• Maintain strong technical skills with current ATC systems and procedures.
• Obtain and maintain classroom instruction certifications at FAA air traffic control facilities within the U.S. National Airspace System.

• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Minimum five (5) years of FAA CPC experience controlling live traffic or recent experience as a contract instructor at an FAA facility at the same type and level of ATC facility as Nashua, New Hampshire (ZBW BOSTON ARTCC).
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• FAA Certified Professional Controller (CPC) certification and the ability to obtain an Instructor‑I Certification.

• Direct experience as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC) at the Nashua, New Hampshire (ZBW) is preferred.
• Excellent teaching and classroom management techniques and a student‑focused drive for continuous improvement.
• Effective interface with FAA personnel at all levels to ensure delivery of training services meets the needs of the local facility and the FAA’s overall Air Traffic Control mission.

ATTN FERS retirees – Earnings received as an ATC Instructor, ATC Training Instructional Supervisor, or Contractor Site Supervisor working on this program are exempt from the Supplemental Annuity earnings limits for FERS retirees ages 56 to 62.

Multiple positions available: full‑time and part‑time. Military ATC experience is welcome.
