Job SummaryManages the daily operations in the dairy and frozen food departments. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans, supervises, trains, and develops team members, and supports an inclusive environment.
Essential Responsibilities Service (60%)- Assist in creating an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated to help build and retain customer confidence and loyalty.
- Ensure the department is merchandised per plan.
- Deliver daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for shelf product availability, freshness, quality, and value.
- Train department associates on freshness, product rotation, inventory levels, stocking – including maintaining POG integrity and shelf price tags/signage, ordering, and cooler/freezer conditioning.
- Offer customers assistance in finding or suggesting products.
- Assist in promoting trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department, and job‑specific information.
- Establish goals for merchandising, sales and profits and empower the team to meet or exceed the goals.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Ensure targets are met for department sales and shrink results.
- Complete daily and weekly administrative tasks (emails, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, etc.).
- Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and report any discrepancies.
- Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action with those items.
- Assist in the planning and organizing of the inventory process.
- Ensure proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retain documentation of temperature logs per policy.
- Ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are maintained.
- Adhere to all regulatory compliance requirements relating to food safety, USDA & COOL, and DOA.
- Execute all product recalls and withdrawals promptly, ensuring items are secured and removed from customer access.
- Reinforce safety programs and inspect and identify unsafe conditions to report to store management.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents, safety risks, or illegal activity.
- Ensure adherence to wage and hour policies and regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety within the store and ensure associates are trained and equipped.
- Education:
High School / GED (required). - Language Requirements:
English (required);
Spanish (preferred). - Relevant Experience:
Supervisory experience 0–3 years minimum. - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it.
- Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to operate pallet jack, baler, and trash compactor.
- Proficiency with computer applications used in effectively operating the department.
- Possession of Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of placement.
Retail – General
Physical Demands:
Regular standing, walking, manual dexterity, repetitive movements, reaching, lifting up to 10 lbs; occasional lifting up to 250 lbs (pulling) and 30 lbs (lifting).
Working Conditions:
Indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, and wet/humid. Safety Risks:
Slipping, hazardous equipment, noise, chemicals, etc. Required Equipment:
Cleaning supplies, general office equipment, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, material handling equipment, etc. PPE:
Goggles, gloves, back brace.
Occasional travel. No overnight.
