The Sushi Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and presentation. This role requires attention to detail, consistency, and a passion for fresh ingredients and excellent customer experience.
Requirements
- Prepare sushi items including rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and specialty items according to recipes and standards.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and freshness of fish and other ingredients.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work station at all times.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Assist with prep work such as cutting fish, vegetables, and rice preparation.
- Monitor inventory levels and minimize waste.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and presentation.
- Provide friendly and professional service when interacting with customers (if applicable).
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Proficiency in English is required;
Spanish skills are a plus. - Non-slip shoes are required for safety (not provided).
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Reliable transportation is a must
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and kneeling
- Comfortable working in hot, humid, and fast-paced kitchen environments
- Manual dexterity for handling knives, tools, and kitchen equipment safely
- Ability to work around steam, open flames, and cleaning agents
- Clear vision and hearing to ensure safety and communication in a busy kitchen
- Ability to climb a step stool or ladder when needed
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as scheduled
