Swiss Machinist

Overview

• 1.1 Operate assigned precision CNC machinery.
• 1.2 Receive process traveler and verify revisions match on all paperwork.
• 1.3 Receive material and load bar feeder or fixture as necessary.
• 1.4 Check parts for accuracy according to inspection plan and part specifications.
• 1.5 Verify the correct program is running on the machine and revision matches traveler.
• 1.6 Red tag units that are out of specifications (OOS) and submit to the Quality Manager.
• 1.8 Ensure work area, machine, tooling, and parts are cleaned regularly and free from excess oil.
• 1.9 Maintain quality and acceptable production outputs.
• 1.10 Perform daily and routine preventive maintenance on assigned machine based on established standards.
• 1.11 Offset the machine to the blueprint for part conformance as needed.
• 1.12 Replace tooling at the machine when required.
• 1.13 Attend all assigned meetings.
• 1.14 Follow all company policies and procedures.
• 1.15 Other duties as assigned.

• 2.1 One
  - Three years of machinist experience required, preferably within a medical device company.
• 2.2 Exposure to ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820 as it relates to the job.
• 2.3 Time management, prioritization and organizational skills.
• 2.4 Knowledge of testing equipment, statistical methods and control plans.
• 2.5 Organizational and problem-solving skills.
• 2.6 High school or equivalent.
• 2.8 General knowledge of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, /OD micrometers, depth gauges, indicators and plug and threaded Go/No gauges.
• 2.9 Ability to read blueprints.
• 2.10 Required knowledge of basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra.
• 2.11 Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and handle frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
• 2.12 Skill in setting priorities to move projects through efficiently, achieving customer and quality objectives.
• 2.13 Ability to work independently and follow through with assignments with minimal direction.
• 2.14 Reasoning skills including comparing, classifying, analyzing and coordinating.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand or walk; use hands, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
• Prolonged periods of standing, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines and inspect parts produced.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and may include exposure to sounds and moving mechanical parts.
• Work environment is temperature controlled.

• Tinted safety glasses on the manufacturing floor (excluding the Quality Lab).
