Overview

In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, the Pathway to Excellence & Magnet Program Director assumes system-wide responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) designation programs including the application, designation, and re-designation process. Serves as the ANCC program resource to the nursing leadership team, and functions as a liaison to hospital departments and consultative resource for administration, nursing, non-nursing employees, physicians, and the community.

Promotes nursing excellence and professional development of nurses.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Communication:
    Embrace a multi-disciplinary collaborative approach throughout the ANCC accreditation process. Serve as liaison between NCH leadership and Pathway to Excellence/Magnet stakeholders to ensure partnership in the designation/re-designation process. Communicate the vision, report progress, create solutions, and motivate and engage employees in demonstrating a Magnet environment.
  • Planning:
    Provide leadership, oversight, coordination, and facilitation for action plans, project schedules, and Magnet budget. Establish a timeline and milestones to maintain Magnet focus across the organization.
  • Organizing:
    Facilitate the Nursing Excellence Steering Committee, coordinate meetings and activities, and advise on Magnet components and Sources of Evidence. Develop and maintain a core group of Magnet Nurse Champions; lead informational sessions; maintain knowledge of Magnet requirements.
  • Data Collection:
    Oversee and maintain evidence files, compose narrative descriptions reflecting nursing excellence per ANCC standards, and coordinate data requirements for reporting nursing staff credentials, education, demographics, and organizational overview.
  • Initiating:
    Coordinate responsibilities for Pathway to Excellence/Magnet Recognition Program, ensuring eligibility and standard compliance; develop department policies to reflect ANCC components and ANA standards.
  • Designation/Re-designation:
    Coordinate submission processes, provide timely documentation, and coordinate the Magnet site visit.
  • Leadership:
    Provide consultative support to nursing leadership and the interdisciplinary team; participate in strategic planning; mentor staff and support shared decision-making and professional nursing practice models.
  • Quality:
    Oversee data integrity and quality data sources; promote quality nursing practice and monitor nurse-sensitive indicators; support compliance with regulations and accrediting bodies.
  • Research:
    Collaborate to support a nursing research program aligned with Magnet requirements.
  • Staff Education/Development:
    Plan and deliver education on the Pathway to Excellence & Magnet Journey; mentor staff nurses; participate in projects that advance nursing excellence.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
  • Minimum of BSN required;
    Master’s in Nursing or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of nursing experience in team facilitation, education programs, project management, planning complex functions, data analysis, or program administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience at a manager/director level or related education in lieu of experience.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida. Professional certification in a specialty area preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Experience with Magnet designation processes and Shared Decision Making is highly preferred.
  • Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills:
    Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
