Overview
The County Attorney’s Office is seeking a paralegal/legal assistant to provide support to assigned attorneys. Responsibilities include litigation support (court filings, drafting, and discovery), researching and reviewing ordinances, resolutions and supporting materials, performing legal research, assisting attorneys in the preparation of legal opinions, effectively researching County records, and preparing correspondence in a variety of situations.
Additional duties include reviewing Board of County Commissioner agendas, performing general administrative functions (including fiscal work in SAP, payroll and accounting documents), maintaining calendars for assigned attorneys, scheduling meetings, ensuring compliance with public records and records retention laws, and performing general/clerical tasks (greeting visitors, answering phones, making copies, sending/receiving faxes). - Must possess a high school diploma or GED; college-level coursework is preferred.
- Possession of a certified paralegal certificate is preferred.
- Equivalent experience in local government law/legal setting is preferred.
- Experience processing financial documents and/or working in SAP or a similar financial system is preferred.
