As a Firefighter, you will be responsible for general firefighting work in the extinguishment, prevention and protection of life and property in the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District. The work requires knowledge and understanding of firefighting methods and techniques. The position requires performance of tasks under emergency conditions including medical emergencies and includes the operation of the fire truck, pumpers, rescues, and related equipment.
Additional duties include providing emergency medical care. In addition to emergency response, time is spent training, inspecting, maintaining equipment and quarters.
Minimum Qualifications are as follows:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Florida firefighter certificate of compliance
- Florida EMT or paramedic license
- Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC)
- ACLS Certification (if paramedic)
- CPAT Authentication Letter (can be submitted at a later date)
- Wildland Fire Certificates (S-130 and S-190)
- National Incident Management System (ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700)
- Current Driver’s License
- Tobacco-Free
- Clean Background and Driving History
- Available to work 24-hour shifts including weekends, holidays and emergency situations
- Must be able to pass a written test, endurance test and drug screen exam

. Entry-level firefighters start at $61,383.60, while experienced firefighters with verifiable fire-rescue service may be eligible for a higher starting rate. For example:
- 3 years of experience:$69,760.17
- 2 years of experience:$67,728.32
- 1 year of experience:$65,755.65

Greater Naples offers a Time-in-Service Seniority provision: after successfully completing the one-year probationary period, experienced firefighters will receive one-half (½) year of time-in-service credit for every year of verified service at another fire department (for promotional purposes). For example, a newly hired firefighter with six (6) years of prior service would receive three (3) years of time-in-service credit toward promotions. A maximum of ten (10) years of prior experience will be accepted.
The organization is the largest independent fire district in the State of Florida, providing emergency response and life safety services to the Chokoloskee, Everglades City, Golden Gate, East Naples, Isles of Capri, Port of the Islands, and surrounding communities. The Fire District is governed by a Board of five elected Fire Commissioners, and proudly staffs 200+ uniform firefighters and civilian support staff.
