Beztak is looking to hire a Medication Technician join our team. As a Medication Technician, you will be primarily responsible for the administration or assisting in the administration of medication and treatments in accordance with a resident’s health care provider’s orders. You will also be responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADL’s), providing general supervision, and respecting residents’ rights and needs of choice.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Provides medication assistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy including; pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation
- Accepts responsibility for accurate medication counts and for security of the medication cart and medication storage room for assigned shifts
- Assists in maintaining the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner
- May be called upon to assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility, as needed
- Responds to all residents needs and/or requests for care promptly, and provides or obtains assistance with care as necessary
- Upholds Residents’ rights at all times
- Supports and upholds all company policies and care philosophy
- Observes residents for change in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, medication side effects, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse
- Completes all documentation such as medication administration records, incident reports, change of condition reports, and behavior tracking, as requested, in a timely manner
- Resolves concerns regarding resident care with all constituents in a timely manner
- Ensures proper and timely records reporting in your department in accordance with state and federal guidelines and company standards
- Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPPA and state and federal regulatory training as required
- Attends all required staff meetings and in-service training sessions
- Assists with other duties as assigned
- Working in a high-pressure environment, interacting with difficult customers/vendors, handling urgent matters, resolving conflicts, having effective interpersonal skills
- Operating a company vehicle or personal vehicle (as required) to perform job duties. Candidates must be willing and able to drive for work-related purposes as needed.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and contributes to an atmosphere of team spirit and cooperation within the facility
- Promotes customer service and positive community relations by treating residents, families, other staff, and all visitors in a courteous, helpful and friendly manner
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 1-year previous experience as a Caregiver for the elderly in a residential or
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members
- Must be able to perform the job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must complete the Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required)
