JOB SUMMARYThe MRI Technologist is responsible for the production of quality MRI images through knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, MRI scanning and provide high quality patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Full understanding of HIS, RIS, PACS to include ordering, monitoring workings, validation of images and completing studies
- Ability to organize relative patient information, reports, and images (including priors) for interpretation.
- Interviews patients for relevant medical history, explains exams and assists patients.
- Interviews patients to obtain a complete MRI Safety/Implant history. Cross references implant with known devices databases. Reports any safety issues to the attending radiologist for determination of MR eligibility.
- Produces images which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of MRI imaging as well as established imaging protocols.
- Follows MRI safety protocols and policies.
- Demonstrates ability to operate power injector system.
- Identifies all patients using two patient identifiers (name and birth date).
- Demonstrates caring, excellence, leadership, pride, teamwork, integrity and center wide standards for service.
- Provides all aspects of patient care based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patients.
- Knows the general condition of the equipment at all times, knows how to operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures. Documents and reports failures in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Recognizes normal and abnormal image findings and reports to supervisor or radiologist.
- Maintains proper stock of medical and clerical supplies.
- Assists with rotating supplies and linen.
- Starts and removes IV’s for exams.
- Escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patients conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers.
- High School or GED required.
- Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program/Magnetic Resonance Imaging/Nuclear Medicine/Radiation Therapy/Sonography Program in approved school.
- Registered with ARRT in Radiography (R) or ARMRIT (MRI) within one year of employment.
- Minimum 1 year experience as MRI Technologist preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
