Office of Inspector General (OIG)
The OIG provides independent, objective auditing and investigative services designed to add value, improve the Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller operations, and preserve public trust. The OIG provides citizens of Collier County with professional and cost-effective internal audit services to ensure that the resources entrusted to county government are used efficiently, effectively, and properly. Additionally, the work of the OIG is to educate citizens and policy makers regarding the operation of government, while assisting in the administration of the Clerk’s constitutional duties.
ContractOversight Unit
The purpose of the OIG’s Contract Oversight Unit is to conduct real-time monitoring of selected County contracting and program activities and provide contemporaneous feedback to County stakeholders. In addition, the unit performs reviews of County contracts, grants, and the procurement and contracting processes. This function is meant to support transparency and accountability in the County’s expenditure of monies, and help detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse of public resources.
InspectorI Responsibilities
- Conducts reviews, inspections, evaluations, and other oversight engagements/projects in accordance with the Association of Inspectors General (AIG’s) Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General and OIG policy and procedures.
- Collects supporting documentation and identifying and reviewing facts to substantiate conclusions in an engagement.
- Performs research, analysis, and interviews to prepare findings and recommendations for improvements.
- Presents and communicates, both orally and in writing, findings and recommendations to the Inspector General, the Clerk, Clerk’s Office senior staff, and county officials.
- Assists in preparation of comprehensive reports and special studies for review by OIG senior staff or the Inspector General.
- Executes inspection, review, and evaluation procedures.
- Completes a minimum of 40 hours of documented continuing education every two years, with at least 12 of the 40 hours in subjects directly related to assigned responsibilities.
- Assists State of Florida, federal, and other independent auditors, inspectors, and investigators.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, computer science, business administration, or a related field that includes technical and professional education and training evidencing competency to assess, analyze, investigate, and/or evaluate information to ascertain and document compliance appropriate with applicable policies, procedures and one year of accounting, auditing, compliance, financial, or investigation experience. Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge of government contract oversight at the federal, state, county, and/or local levels.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job may be substituted for the education or experience requirement.
