Minimum Requirements (Education/Experience)

High school diploma or GED certificate and two (2) years of related experience. Advanced computer skills required (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, email, web). Associate degree strongly preferred. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Accountant (I, II, III and Senior Accountant) positions exist with corresponding job descriptions with differentiated responsibilities and skills. The accountant's duties include but are not limited to: monitoring grant awards including establishing the award, ensuring expenditures in the grants are allowable, adhering to reporting due dates and preparing final reports while ensuring post award compliance with State and Federal guidelines. This position also prepares journal entries, assists with cash management and preparation of the Cost Report and Annual Financial Report.

Therefore, broad knowledge of general accounting principles, practices and procedures is necessary. Must be deadline oriented, able to analyze data, interpret detailed information and convert to knowledge-based reports and recommendations. Also, applicants must possess strong analytical skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to interact with individuals, teams, supervisors, and management. Attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects while ensuring accurate and timely internal controls over financial transactions and a strong work ethic is critical for success in this position.
