Napa State Hospital Human Resources Department is accepting applications for a Full-Time, Permanent Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Medicine and Ancillary Services.
Incumbent responsibilities include but are not limited to physical examinations, review of medical histories, assessments of medical conditions, ordering medication and devices, administering treatments, advice, and counsel patients, and perform related duties as required. Nurse Practitioners must also document medical histories, perform admissions, annual patient physicals, and gynecological examinations. This includes assessing and ordering treatments on new conditions in accordance with established protocols, completing required documentation, and providing patient education and teaching.
Nurse Practitioners will also perform new and annual employee physicals as well as examine injured or ill employees in the employee clinic.
The Nurse Practitioner must have a current valid Registered Nurse License and be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the California Board of Registered Nursing. They must have the ability to work and relate with others in a cooperative, professional manner and evidence of ethical behavior. Nurse Practitioner must obtain privileges for their use of specific Standardized Procedures. Within each type of service are specific Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures developed through collaboration of Nursing, Medicine, and Administration via the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee and approved by the Coordinator of Nursing Service, Medical Director, and Hospital Administrator.

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027.
