Overview

Pulmonary Medicine Associates, treating patients in the greater Sacramento area for over 50 years, has an opening for a Per Diem Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. The role is part of our hospital ICU care team at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in the Napa area. NP's work closely with physicians to provide high‑quality medical care. Training is provided. Must be able to work night shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision of a physician, provide care to ICU patients using established protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive history & physical exam, perform diagnostic reasoning, order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform invasive procedures, and write prescriptions.
  • Collaborate with patient, family, and other healthcare team to review care plan and reach best outcome.
  • Educate patients on procedures, treatment protocols, wellness, prevention, and early detection.
  • Document all services and orders in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs.
  • Assist in resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients and/or families.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information per federal and state guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Graduate of Accredited School offering an Advanced Degree in Nurse Practice (ARNP).
  • Current, unrestricted California NP license; ACNP required.
  • Current Board certification in relevant specialty.
  • Current DEA certificate without restriction.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacologic agents used in patient treatment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with proper telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to relate to patients, families, and the healthcare team in a professional manner.
  • Minimum three years of RN experience; at least three years of NP experience preferred, or equivalent.
  • Ability to provide medical services within scope of licensing and training.
  • ACLS certification required.
