Position Overview
The Banquet Houseperson plays a critical behind-the-scenes role in the successful execution of meetings, weddings, and special events at Carneros Resort and Spa. This position is responsible for the accurate setup, refresh, breakdown, and ongoing maintenance of all banquet and event spaces, ensuring each venue meets the resort’s luxury standards for cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, physically capable, and thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. This role requires flexibility, strong teamwork, and a proactive approach to supporting banquet operations across a large, outdoor resort property.
Key Responsibilities Event Setup, Refresh & Breakdown- Set up banquet and meeting spaces according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), diagrams, and timelines, including tables, chairs, linens, staging, and equipment.
- Refresh event spaces during functions as needed, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and guest readiness.
- Break down event spaces promptly following functions and return all furniture, equipment, and supplies to designated storage areas.
- Transport and properly store tables, chairs, risers, dance floors, and other event equipment.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all banquet spaces, storage areas, and back-of-house locations.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, polish, wipe, and detail carpets, floors, walls, doors, windows, walkways, and service areas before, during, and after events.
- Ensure banquet areas remain clean, organized, and safe at all times, addressing spills, debris, or hazards immediately.
- Adhere to all resort safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns promptly.
- Assist banquet servers, captains, and management with event logistics to ensure smooth and timely execution.
- Monitor banquet supply levels and assist with restocking linens, décor, and event materials as needed.
- Support multiple events simultaneously by prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Operate a golf cart and manual work truck to transport equipment and supplies across the resort property.
- Follow all resort policies, procedures, and safety guidelines at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the banquet team and other departments to support successful events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support overall banquet and resort operations.
- One to two years of related experience in banquets, events, hospitality, or facilities support preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, diagrams, and event layouts accurately.
- Knowledge of and adherence to safety and security procedures.
- Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) and Food Handler Certification required in compliance with California law.
Physical Requirements
- Flexible availability required, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds
, including tables, chairs, and event equipment. - Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, bending, kneeling, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely operate a golf cart and manual work truck.
