CITY CLERK ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD, COMMITTEE, & COMMISSION OPENINGS
MULTIPLE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE!
OPEN UNTIL FILLED — Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until openings are filled. Please submit your application as soon as possible.
How to apply:
Applications are available online via the City Clerk's Boards & Commissions webpage at the Napa City website.
The City Clerk is accepting applications from Napa Residents for a total of TEN (10) openings on various boards, committees, and commissions:
- Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals — 3 openings (appointments may be concurrent with other boards as described below).
- Disability Access Board of Appeals — 3 openings.
- One designated as a physically handicapped person member.
- Two openings may be filled by serving concurrently on the Building Fire Code Board of Appeals.
- Public Art Steering Committee — 1 opening to serve as the visual arts professional; 1 opening as a member at large; committee meets bi-monthly.
- Public Financing Authority (PFA) — 1 opening; governs the Napa EIFD; meets as needed.
- Senior Advisory Commission — 2 openings: one as a senior community at large representative and one as a senior agency representative; meets on the first Wednesday of every other month.
The above boards and commissions have varying meeting schedules, with many serving as needed rather than on a regular schedule. Applicants must be City of Napa residents and registered voters where specified.
Individual Board/Commission DescriptionsBuilding and Fire Code Board of Appeals: Local appeals board for building and fire code issues. May provide advisory comments on new codes or proposed code changes. Members should have knowledge, experience, and training in building construction and fire protection. The Board has no regular meetings and is called as needed.
Disability Access Board of Appeals: Renders decisions on appeals regarding access to public accommodations or facilities; two members must be physically handicapped persons. The Committee has no regular meetings and is called as needed.
Public Art Steering Committee: Advises City Council and staff on public art proposals funded through in-lieu contributions and reviews the Public Art Master Plan. Five members: one visual arts professional, one practicing professional artist, one Napa City representative of the Napa County Arts and Culture Commission, one nominee from Arts Council Napa Valley or another recognized arts organization, and one at-large member.
Meets the fourth Tuesday of every other month in City Hall Council Chambers.
Public Financing Authority (PFA): Governs the Napa EIFD, financing public capital facilities and projects of community wide significance. Meetings are held annually and as needed at City Hall Council Chambers.
Senior Advisory Commission: Makes recommendations on services, facility use, and recreational activities at the Napa Senior Center; sets short and long-term goals for senior programs. Meets the first Wednesday of every other month at City Hall Council Chambers.
