Occupational Health & Safety, Operations Manager
Oxbow Pool and Landscape Contractors is seeking a dedicated and experienced Landscape Construction Safety Officer/Manager to lead our safety initiatives and ensure compliance with industry regulations. This role is critical in maintaining a safe work environment by developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety programs across all project sites. The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying hazards, conducting training, and fostering a strong culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify potential hazards on project sites and conduct risk assessments.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to comply with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks to ensure safety measures are in place.
- Work with project management teams and field employees to develop and implement solutions to safety concerns.
- Maintain safety documentation, including OSHA 300 logs, incident reports, and training records.
- Lead safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills for employees and subcontractors.
- Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
- Assist in developing and executing emergency response plans.
- Monitor and maintain employee safety certifications, including OSHA 10 and 30-hour certifications, equipment training, CPR & First Aid, as well as any other applicable trainings.
- Discipline employees and subcontractors who fail to comply with safety regulations.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, safety laws, and new safety technologies.
- Act as a liaison between employees, management, and regulatory agencies on safety-related concerns.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; a degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications: OSHA 10 and 30-hour certification required; additional safety certifications (OSHA OTI, CHST, CSP) are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in construction safety management, preferably in landscape or pool construction.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
- Ability to conduct safety training and present information effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish (preferred).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Ability to climb ladders, access elevated work areas, and navigate construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
