Overview

STATUS:
Seasonal Full-Time, Exempt Camp Worker (as defined in Section 18897 of the Health and Safety Code) will be needed roughly between mid-June to mid-August 2026. Final dates will be confirmed  CLASSIFICATION:

LOCATION:

Napa, CA. SALARY RANGE: $77.71 - $87.71 - Daily Rate (per CA Labor Code 1182.4) – paid semi-monthly. Final date to receive applications:

Founded in San Francisco in 1902, the Light House’s purpose is to promote the independence, equality and self-reliance of people who are blind or visually impaired. The Light House is currently in a period of growth, increasing our capacity to serve more low-vision and blind clients. Blind/visually impaired strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School graduate
  • Some college education preferred
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Previous work in a camp, school, or community service setting
  • Experience working with individuals who are blind/visually impaired preferred
  • Knowledge of Braille and/or sign language preferred
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the supervision, guidance, and organization of campers in their living units, activities, and throughout camp to support positive camper experiences.
  • Apply principles of youth development and blindness awareness to foster strong camper relationships, inclusivity, and empowerment.
  • Ensure campers are supervised at all times and adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Assist in developing and implementing camp activities in alignment with the camp’s mission and outcomes.
  • Lead and support instructional activities across various program areas.
  • Engage actively in all assigned program areas, ensuring activities align with camper interests and abilities.
  • Support specialized camp activities, including waterfront, nature exploration, arts and crafts, and all-camp events.
  • Health, Safety & Well-Being:
    Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff. Provide daily care and ensure the well-being of campers, recognizing and addressing personal health needs. Ensure campers receive medications as directed by the health care manager. Identify and address camper or staff concerns, reporting to the camp health manager or director when necessary. Monitor and maintain proper use, care, and maintenance of camp equipment and facilities, reporting repairs as needed.

    Serve as a positive role model for campers and staff through behavior, attitude, and adherence to camp policies. Uphold and enforce all safety, security, and camp procedural guidelines. Demonstrate good sportsmanship, respect, and responsibility in all camp activities. Provide verbal and written feedback as needed for evaluations and camper development. Maintain clear, positive communication with campers, staff, and leadership. Attend and participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Camp Engagement & Special Events:
    Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, leading and supporting as assigned. Assist in planning and supervising evening programs, special events, overnights, and all-camp activities. Stay informed on best practices through ongoing learning and engagement in instructional materials.

  • Consistently report to work on time and be ready to begin performing our assigned duties and responsibilities with no more than two exceptions per camp session.
  • Work productively or stay engaged with campers during at least 95% of program activities, all camp activities, cabin time and all other time that is not designated as time off.
