This role offers the opportunity to join the maintenance team on the Cheshire East Highways contract as an Apprentice Operative. You will work alongside an experienced team while completing a two-year apprenticeship, learning a range of highway maintenance activities, including carriageway and footway works. The role involves following safe working practices, attending daily briefings, undertaking relevant training, and supporting the delivery of works to the required standards and timescales.
The RoleResponsibilities:
- To complete a two-year apprenticeship course in construction highways maintenance
- To undertake highway specific training courses as appropriate to ensure compliance
- Work as part of the highway maintenance operational team
- Learn and carry out a variety of tasks across highway maintenance, including but not limited to carriageway and footway works
- Understand and follow work procedures to ensure own safety and safety of others
- Functional Skills (Level 2 / GCSE) in English and Maths are NOT essential, but will be required prior to completion of the apprenticeship
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to deal effectively with peers, client representatives and the general public
