ROLE
DESCRIPTION:
Millie's Market is seeking an Assistant Manager for the upcoming Summer 2026 season (May 1, 2026 start date). This position is based on Nantucket. The ideal candidate will have retail operations and staff management experience and be comfortable leading groups of staff and on‑site store operations. The role is responsible for aiding store operations, including maximizing sales & profits, staff scheduling, supervision, training, leadership, and communication with other Georgetown Events businesses and executives.
In addition to Market operations, the Manager will lead product offering discussions, manage ordering and inventory, and develop merchandising strategies to drive retail sales.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in managing day‑to‑day operations of Millie’s Market Nantucket
- Guarantee maximum sales & profits by optimizing merchandising of all goods and products
- Manage inventory levels and daily ordering of food, beverage, alcohol, and ice cream products (Sysco, Core Mark, Coca‑Cola, etc.)
- Lead a staff of approximately 30; oversee inventory management, scheduling, documentation, and training
- Ensure the Market’s in‑store and outside appearance is kept clean, organized, and well‑stocked by Market staff
- Collaborate with Millie’s Restaurant staff and management to coordinate appropriate efforts
- Send daily reports to Leadership with key business information (sales, staff, daily summary)
- Communicate with Leadership regarding staff scheduling and performance
- Manage unique situations with customers and staff, escalating issues as appropriate
- Foster a healthy and positive working environment for guests & staff alike
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience managing a retail operation or customer‑facing business
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Internet tools
- Ability to lead staff, provide direction, and oversee Market operations
- Ability to relocate to Nantucket, Massachusetts from May 1 to October 1, 2026 (housing for the right candidate provided)
REPORTS TO: Millie’s Nantucket General Manager, Georgetown Events leadership & ownership
OVERSEES: Market staff
EDUCATION: High school diploma required. Degree in Business Administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus
LICENSE: Valid driver’s license required, able to procure any necessary health, food, and alcohol licenses
LANGUAGE: Must be fluent in English
