RN, Nursing Supervisor

Nantucket Cottage Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nursing Supervisor to help lead exceptional patient care across all units.

In this role, you’ll oversee patient flow, support nursing staff, respond to emergencies, and ensure seamless coordination throughout the hospital. Housing assistance and relocation support are available to help you join our island community and thrive both professionally and personally.

Provides administrative, operational, and clinical responsibilities for all services in the facility on evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Serves as the clinical resource person on patient care and services; acts as the patient care representative; collaborates with medical staff, ancillary support, and clinical services to ensure optimal patient care services and environmental conditions at all times. Responsible for notifying Administrator-On-Call of serious issues, incidents, and internal and external disasters.

• Supervise patient care through verification of the nursing process according to established nursing practices and patient care standards; provide direction and guidance to facilitate the nursing process.
• Ensure appropriate intervention is demonstrated in all situations, e.g., deterioration of patient condition, disruptive behavior, equipment malfunctions, etc.
• Serve as off-shift patient care representative; listen to patients or family members’ issues, document and investigate complaints if required.
• Conduct rounds of all patient care areas and define expectations for accurate reporting with emphasis on high-acuity patients.
• Collaborate with off-shift support services, emergency, admitting, and clinical services to coordinate clinical patient care or environmental needs.
• Follow through to ensure patient needs, as well as environmental and safety-related issues, are resolved.

Education
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred;
Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials
Massachusetts RN License required. BLS, ACLS & PALS required.

Experience
Clinical nursing experience 5-7 years required and lead nursing experience 2-3 years required.
