Reports to: Early Childhood Education Coordinator
Terms of Employment: This is a part-time position, up to two hours per week. The starting hourly range is $40 to $50 per hour, commensurate with experience. Upon completion of the required certification (ICEA or equivalent), the Childbirth Educator will be reimbursed for certification costs. Additionally, the Childbirth Educator will receive a stipend of $150 to shadow a session with the current instructor.
Job SummaryThe Nantucket Community School is seeking a Childbirth Educator to lead prenatal education classes in Spanish for expectant parents and families in five-week sessions. The ideal candidate will create a supportive, inclusive, and informative learning environment that empowers participants to make confident and informed decisions throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the early postpartum period.
Qualifications- Certification as a Childbirth Educator (e.g., Lamaze, ICEA, CAPPA, or equivalent). Training provided if needed.
- Background in nursing, medical assisting, midwifery, doula work, or other perinatal support field preferred.
- Ability to converse with members of the public pleasantly and effectively in both Spanish and English.
- Experience teaching or working with diverse groups of adults.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
