• Strong working knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and COR-certified safety management systems

• Proven leadership ability with experience mentoring supervisors and project teams, influencing culture, and holding teams accountable in the field

Nice to Haves

• Experience in high-voltage substations, transmission lines, generation facilities, or utility-scale infrastructure projects

• Experience working on projects involving both electrical and significant civil scope (excavation, ground disturbance, heavy equipment interface, foundations)

• Occupational First Aid Level 3

• Experience designing and delivering competency-based safety training and leadership coaching

• Experience structuring or scaling a corporate safety department to meet growing project demands

• Familiarity with environmental protection planning and integration of environmental considerations into OHS systems

• Exposure to oil & gas or energy-adjacent sectors in addition to core industrial electrical experience

Responsibilities

• Lead and actively champion a strong, practical safety culture across all corporate and project operations, ensuring safety is owned by leadership at every level

• Provide expert guidance and mentorship to senior management, project managers, supervisors, and field crews on effective safety leadership and accountability

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve corporate OHS policies and systems in alignment with regulatory and client requirements

• Maintain and strengthen COR certification processes, internal audits, and external audit readiness

• Create and oversee comprehensive Site Safety Management Plans for large-scale high-voltage and civil-interface projects

• Conduct formal risk assessments prior to project mobilization and throughout the project lifecycle

• Ensure subcontractor safety plans, job hazard analyses, and safe work procedures meet corporate and regulatory standards

• Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions

• Analyze injury and incident data to identify trends and drive measurable safety performance improvements

• Oversee employee training records and ensure all regulatory and client-required training is current and properly documented

• Develop and deliver orientations, safety training sessions, and leadership coaching as required

• Conduct project safety audits, inspections, and job observations, providing clear feedback and ensuring corrective actions are completed

• Collaborate with project teams during planning and scheduling to proactively integrate safety into all phases of work

• Provide regular reporting to senior leadership and Joint Health & Safety Committees on safety performance, risks, and improvement initiatives

• Support injury management and return-to-work processes in coordination with site leadership and external stakeholders

• Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the organization’s occupational health, safety, and environmental programs

• Travel periodically to project sites throughout British Columbia to maintain visibility, provide support, and ensure consistent safety standards across all operations
