The Team
The Nanaimo Community Corrections team is a well‑established group made up of 13 Probation Officers, a Local Manager, and two administrative staff who work together to support safe outcomes for the community. As a Senior Probation Officer, you’ll collaborate closely with local justice partners and Indigenous agencies to provide inclusive, culturally informed supervision and support. This is a professional, respectful, and highly collaborative team that plays a meaningful role in strengthening public safety across Central Vancouver Island.
The RoleIn this senior role, you’ll provide leadership, mentoring, and day‑to‑day guidance to Probation Officers while also managing your own caseload and supporting operations across the region, including regular travel to Parksville. Your work directly strengthens the quality of service provided to citizens involved in the criminal justice system by helping grow skilled, confident, and culturally responsive practitioners. Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree (4 years: 120 credits) from a recognized Canadian institution.
- Two years or more experience as a full working level probation officer in a Canadian jurisdiction, a combination of community corrections related program or policy analyst work, projects or training may be deemed equivalent.
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license, a class 7 may be considered.
- Travel to other geographic locations may be required.
- Evening or weekend work may be required for operational reasons.

About this PositionThis position has full time on-site requirements. Located on Vancouver Island, Nanaimo is known for parks like Neck Point, Piper’s Lagoon and Sealand Park, which are perfect for camping, hiking and exploring. Mt. Washington, the island's most popular ski hill, has year-round activities like hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing and skiing. A Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) and Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
