Site Foreman

Velsen Homes is hiring experienced carpenters ready to step into a foremen role.

Velsen Homes is a design/build company with over thirty years of experience constructing high-quality custom homes and select commercial projects. We take pride in our craftsmanship, our team, and the strong reputation we’ve built in Nanaimo and on Gabriola Island.

We’re looking for hard-working, self-motivated individuals who are ready to take on a leadership role and help us continue delivering exceptional projects.

• Proven experience in a foreman or site supervisor role
• Minimum of 2 years in a foremen or supervisor role leading 4+ crew
• Ability to lead a crew of experienced builders with a positive, proactive mindset
• Strong background in custom home construction and reading/understanding plans
• Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork

As a Site Supervisor with Velsen Homes, you will play a key leadership role on our custom home and commercial job sites.

Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing daily onsite operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Velsen Homes’ quality standards
• Leading and supporting the carpentry crew
  , providing direction, mentorship, and problem-solving when challenges arise
• Coordinating all trades and suppliers with project manager
  , ensuring schedules are met and materials are onsite when needed
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings and ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications, and building code requirements
• Maintaining site safety by enforcing WorkSafeBC standards, completing toolbox talks, and keeping the site clean and organized
• Communicating regularly with the Project Manager to provide updates, flag issues, and keep the project on track
• Completing basic site documentation
  , including daily logs, deficiency notes, inspection coordination, and progress photos
• Ensuring high-quality workmanship
  , conducting quality checks, and addressing deficiencies promptly
• Representing Velsen Homes professionally with clients, consultants, inspectors, and trade partners
