American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position requiring at least 3 years of L&D experience and proficiency in circulating C-sections, triage, and postpartum couplet care.
Details- Acute care hospital setting on a Women's Services LDRP unit with 14 LDRP beds — patients remain in the same room throughout their stay
- Unit includes 2 OR suites for C-sections (RNs circulate and recover), 4 triage beds staffed by travelers, and antepartum patients; does not accept placenta previa or placenta accreta
- Patient population includes 32+ week gestation patients, HTN/magnesium drips, BACs, TOLACs, gestational diabetes, antepartum, and a high volume of patients seeking medical intervention or pain control — approximately 90 births/month
- Staffing follows AWHONN standards: 1:1 labor (or 1:2 for cervical ripening patients), 1:3 postpartum couplet care, 1:3 triage with resource nurse support at 4 patients
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin, Magnesium, and occasional Insulin protocols
- Fetal monitoring uses Centricity; telemetry capability is available on unit but rarely used
- Charting system is Epic; experience is required
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a), with weekend coverage based on unit needs
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Float requirement to all St. Luke's Treasure Valley sites (Meridian, Nampa, Boise) within primary skill set (L&D, Postpartum, or Antepartum) or as a sitter
- Active Idaho RN license or compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted
- Required certifications (all must be active, no pending accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Minimum 3 years of L&D experience required
- Mother-baby/postpartum experience required (minimum 1 year preferred)
- Must be proficient in attending deliveries and completing the first hour of newborn care, triage, circulating C-sections, and postpartum couplet care
- Experience with magnesium administration required
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees of the facility must have been separated for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
- Unit is supported by an OB hospitalist and a Neonatal NP, both in-house 24/7, as well as anesthesia in-house 24/7
- Each shift includes a Charge RN (no patient assignment), a Resource RN, and a Triage RN; 1 CST and 1 CNA are typically scheduled per shift
- Resource nurse attends all deliveries as 'baby catcher,' must be able to stabilize, perform physical assessment, and complete newborn cares within the first 2 hours
- A NICU is embedded within 7 of the 14 LDRP rooms
- 4 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided, covering C-section, labor, and postpartum;
Epic Curio and compliance assignments must be completed prior to start - Block scheduling is not available; travelers fill scheduling gaps around core staff, with some preference consideration in subsequent schedules
- Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs during the contract period
- Hospital-issued scrubs are required and must be changed into and out of at the beginning and end of each shift; scrub colors may vary at different float sites
- Acrylic and gel nails are not permitted on this unit
