Description:
Department: ICU with 10 beds.
Nurse to patient ratio is 1:2.
Common diagnoses and types of patients include heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, vented patients, GI bleeds, strokes, TPA, post codes, pneumonia, and post-surgical complications.
Travelers will not take on CRRT.
RNs are required to titrate drips including Propofol, Levophed, Dobutamine, vasopressin, Fentanyl, Epinephrine, and Diltiazem.
There is a charge nurse on each shift who does not take patients.
Administrative support is available on site 24/7.
Crisis nurse is also available 24/7.
CNA is available 1 per shift.
Hospitalist is on site 24/7, with intensivist available via telehealth.
Respiratory Therapists are in the ICU 24/7 with equipment including vents, high flow, and BiPAP.
There are no Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit; RNs are required to read strips.
Shifts are scheduled by the unit scheduler and can be blocked or grouped together.
Weekend requirements will follow an every-other-weekend pattern, with flexibility for filling in as needed.
Holiday requirements depend on staffing needs.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Floating requirements include the potential to float to other ICUs while keeping ratios as manageable as possible.
There is a dress code of clean and professional attire in any color.
The facility has a radius rule of 50 miles.
RNs will undergo unit-specific orientation lasting 1 to 2 shifts based on experience.
