American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel assignment in an acute care hospital setting, requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications and the ability to titrate critical drips.
Details- Acute care hospital ICU setting with a 10-bed unit
- Common patient diagnoses include heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, GI bleeds, strokes, TPA administration, post-codes, pneumonia, and post-surgical complications
- Nurses are required to titrate drips including Propofol, Levophed, Dobutamine, Vasopressin, Fentanyl, Epinephrine, and Diltiazem
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2
- 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a
- Every other weekend required, with potential for additional weekend shifts as needed
- Holiday coverage required based on unit need
- No on-call or standby requirement
- Floating required to the Telemetry unit (ratio may reach 1:3) and potentially to sister ICUs in Meridian and Boise
- EMR system is Epic
- Active Idaho RN license or compact RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
- Ability to read cardiac monitor strips (no telemetry techs on unit)
- Valid driver's license required
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment; administrative supervisor and crisis nurse are available on-site 24/7
- Intensivist is available 24/7 via telehealth; hospitalist is on-site 24/7
- Respiratory therapists are present in the ICU 24/7 and manage vents, high-flow oxygen, and BiPAP
- Travelers will not be assigned CRRT patients
- 1 CNA is available per shift for support
- Orientation is 1–2 shifts depending on experience; no blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accepted
- Scrubs may be any color as long as they are clean and professional
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent employees must have been away for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
