OverviewThe Packaging/Finished Goods Material Handler is responsible for the timely movement of all materials within a designated location. This position tracks material movement in computerized systems to ensure proper inventory availability. This role is for C shift (Thursday–Saturday) and E/O Wednesday, 7:00 am–7:00 pm.
Position Responsibilities- Operate a forklift to move raw materials, packaging, finished product and other materials between locations.
- Operate a Turret forklift (VNA) to move materials as required.
- Be certified to drive material handling equipment required by the job (e.g., order picker, forklift, reach truck, turret truck, pallet jack, walkie rider).
- Use a computer and company systems to track all material movement transactions (incoming and outgoing).
- Observe all GMP, food safety, and employee safety requirements.
- Load 53-foot trailers with a lift truck.
- Shipping and receiving of products and materials.
- Log incoming material and outgoing pallets into the computer system.
- Recognize shortages of materials in the system and order materials for the next shift.
- Staging and preparation of raw materials for use in operations.
- Follow detailed processes for assigned work to ensure proper completion.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per shift.
- Stand for an entire shift (12 hours).
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Enter and exit a forklift safely multiple times per shift.
- Work in cold temperature environments with proper attire.
- Work on a secure elevated platform up to 30 feet; not be fearful of heights.
- Wear a safety harness as required.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Technical/Trade School preferred.
- Prior forklift/material handling experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in the food industry is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to plan work and anticipate problems.
- Computer skills, data entry, and ERP experience in a production environment preferred.
- Basic math skills, including weights and measures; able to take/record measurements and understand tare weight.
