Albertsons Library invites applications for a collaborative and innovative Science and Engineering Librarian to join the Instruction and Research Services Unit. This 12‑month tenure‑track faculty position supports STEM teaching, research, and scholarly engagement. The successful candidate will serve as the subject librarian for science and engineering departments, providing specialized research, instructional, and scholarly support to undergraduate, graduate students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities- Design and deliver course-integrated instruction and stand‑alone instruction for undergraduate and graduate students in science and engineering programs.
- Provide in‑depth research consultations and support disciplinary research practices in STEM fields.
- Contribute to the development, revision, and assessment of the Research and Critical Inquiry Microcourse (RCIM).
- Engage in reference services and collaborate with library colleagues on initiatives that support the library’s and university’s mission and goals.
- Support state and university affordable learning initiatives.
- Improve librarianship practices through professional development and implement relevant advances in academic librarianship.
- Engage in professional service at the library, university, community, and state/regional/national/international levels.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships across campus.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Agility in delivering services and engaging stakeholders in both in‑person and virtual environments.
- Respectful collaboration with people from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.
- American Library Association’s accredited master’s degree or a comparable graduate degree from a non‑U.S. university.
- Experience working directly with students in an academic setting.
- Experience providing instruction and/or research support for science and/or engineering departments at the college or university level.
- Experience creating online learning objects such as Lib Guides, videos, or modules in an LMS such as Canvas or Blackboard.
- Experience with information literacy instruction in an academic library.
- Familiarity with science and engineering research tools and resources (e.g., subject databases, citation managers, data repositories, patents, standards, technical reports, GIS data).
- Experience with or understanding of evidence synthesis research methods.
- Experience with or understanding of data management practices, open science, open data, and research reproducibility issues in science and/or engineering.
- Undergraduate degree, graduate degree, or significant coursework in a science and/or engineering field.

Salary and BenefitsThe annual salary begins at $65,000 and is commensurate with experience. This is a yearly, renewable 12‑month contract in a tenure‑track position.
