Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all safety standards and regulations are met.
- Oversee daily construction field operations, including in-house crews, subcontractors, and inspection activities.
- Coordinate and schedule field activities and resources in collaboration with the Project Manager to complete assigned scopes of work.
- Forecast construction start and completion dates, identifying and mitigating issues that may cause delays.
- Report project challenges or risks to the Project Manager and propose corrective actions to maintain schedule adherence.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with customer specifications.
- Manage and oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring quality workmanship, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Source and evaluate local vendors and subcontractors, ensuring proper licensing and adherence to project standards.
- Demonstrate consistent attention to quality construction practices and ensure timely closeout and documentation of projects.
- Monitor construction progress and financial performance; maintain accurate reports and documentation.
- Uphold ITG's commitment to safety and quality across all construction operations.
Working for the Project Manager, the Construction Manager will coordinate and schedule field activities and resources to complete the scope of work
Must have the ability to forecast construction start and completion dates as well as identify issues that will cause delays.
Candidate will report issues or challenges to the Project Manager and propose solutions to keep projects on track
Directly responsible for the overall success of construction projects including meeting project schedules and budget
Strong construction management, reporting, and budgeting skills will be a must
Identify additional subcontractors/resources to support various construction projects and oversee their quality and schedule
Understanding the project scope and capabilities and sourcing appropriate local vendors that meet requirements and state licensing requirements
Demonstrated attention to quality construction practices and ensuring timely close out and delivery of the project schedule
Requirements
Qualifications:
High School or associate's degree
Previous 5 years of direct experience directing and managing OSP construction or project builds
OSHA 30 or higher required
Extensive experience OSP communications industries with the ability to ensure high quality and safety standards
Experience in utility pole line construction a plus
Strong time management and construction quality and safety experience
Willingness to learn new skills, software, database and technologies
Excellent verbal and written communication
Proficiency in MS Office Products, and Google Earth
Must know how to read construction drawings and help others to understand how to build using the prints issued
Must be safe and take ownership in safety culture
Direct knowledge of key estimating and financial aspects of building OSP infrastructure
Traffic safety certifications
Valid driver's license required
Travel in or outside the region 25%
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds as needed. Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching during field inspections or site work. Ability to drive to and from job sites across multiple locations and regions.
- Visual acuity to read construction drawings, maps, and digital screens.
- Manual dexterity required for operating tools, equipment, and standard office technology. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and protective eyewear.
