Renders basic patient care to patients in an assigned unit and assists the professional nurse; takes and records vital signs and observes, reports, and records patient condition; obtains specimens and administers other treatments; operates or assists in operating various mechanical devices; meets physical comfort needs of patient; reports emergencies and administers emergency treatment.
Patient care employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups—must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
QualificationsMinimum Education:
Minimum Experience:
CNA, Nurse Aide Experience, or currently attending a school of nursing.
Required Certification: BLS
Required Licensure:
None
FLSA Status:
Non-exempt
Note – Required certifications are to be completed by 3 months of employment.
