Paint Line Technician - 2nd Shift

Perform a broad variety of tasks to maintain performance levels for paint lines and washers used to prime and finish paint transformers and components. Major duties include lab analysis, material handling, data collection, and operation of production support equipment.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct, interpret, and record laboratory analysis for paints, washer chemicals, and other materials used to prime and finish paint transformers and components.
- Move, handle, and mix paints, washer chemicals and other materials as needed to perform process diagnostics and to replenish materials at point of use.
- Collect and record process data including chemical concentration, fluid viscosity, coating thickness, process pressures, flow rates, temperatures, paint gloss and hardness, solvent usage, wastewater discharges, and other similar data. Create weekly reports to support EHS and MESH requirements.
- Follow detailed written instructions.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineering and various suppliers during periods of experimentation.
- Operate in environments with paint solvent and chemical fumes (paints, thinners, solvents, varnish, acids, caustics, etc.), classified as hazardous materials.
- Attend annual training on hazardous waste management.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs (plugged pumps, change e‑coat filter bags, clean bath stages) on all lines, often requiring confined space entry following procedures.
- Attend annual training on confined space.
- Control operations of production support equipment such as wastewater system and de‑ionized water system. Load and label hazardous waste drums.
- Participate in problem‑solving processes to improve efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Adhere to safety protocols, efficient material handling, housekeeping practices (5S+), and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Relevant work experience preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing preferred.
- Works from quality and production standards.
- Ability to maintain documentation using NFOI, Standard Work, VOP, and engineering control documents.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of assigned product lines and associated work centers.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend written materials related to safety, quality, and operating instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to advocate for quality and zero defects to operators and ensure no shortcuts are taken.

- Adhere to proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection, with additional PPE as required.
- Work efficiently in hot environments and tolerate loud noises.
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Perform physical tasks such as frequent bending, stooping, twisting, grabbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and using both hands and upper extremities to lift/lower materials and perform tasks of a repetitive nature with or without reasonable accommodation.
