Overview
Guest Services Supervisor-The Shelby-Myrtle Beach, SC role at Hotel Equities. This range is provided by Hotel Equities. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Salary: $18.00/hr
Responsibilities- Greet and welcome guests upon arrival. Register guests into the computer, verify reservation, address, and credit information. Promote the “preferred” guest program and provide recognition and benefits to all current members.
- Accept payment for guests’ accounts at registration and checkout. Maintain a house bank and make deposits with accurate daily reports. Cash checks and exchange currency for guests.
- Issue keys to and control entrances of safety deposit boxes. Post miscellaneous charges as requested.
- Promptly respond to and resolve guest complaints.
- Answer telephone promptly and properly, being polite, courteous, and friendly.
- Be friendly, thorough, accurate and efficient in taking reservations, performing check-ins and check-outs.
- Assist guests with luggage on arrival and departure.
- Use the guests’ names and be knowledgeable and helpful about the local area, the hotel and hotel services.
- Handle messages, wake-up calls, mail, and faxes properly; assist guests with laundry/dry cleaning needs.
- Be aware of incoming VIPs and follow all applicable Company Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform other assignments as directed by the General Manager; be an enthusiastic, helpful and positive member of the team.
- Maintain open lines of communication with each department; respond positively to new ideas and feedback.
- Be available to help other departments in emergency situations and adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies.
- Be knowledgeable of safety and security procedures and handle keys appropriately.
- Aggressively seek opportunities to sell rooms and promote hotel amenities and outlets; have complete knowledge of hotel rooms, function space, and services.
- Ensure all customers establish credit upon check-in and manage cash flow by following established credit and inventory control procedures.
- Verify information on reservations at check-in; collect proper payment and provide necessary approvals; identify special billing instructions and notify accounting.
- Complete shift closing accurately with appropriate approvals and authorization codes.
- Stay current with developments in the hotel by reviewing the communications log and updating it for the next shift; report potential sales contacts to the sales department.
- High School diploma / Secondary qualification or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication; strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computational and computer skills; extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services, facilities, and local attractions.
- Most work tasks are indoors with moderate temperature control by hotel environment systems.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform tasks such as lifting up to 15 lbs; ability to reach, bend, and climb as needed.
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and use a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays; strong problem-solving and customer-service orientation.
- Being passionate about people and service; strong communication skills.
- Basic math skills for handling cash or credit; ability to log issues/requests efficiently.
