Job Description- Must have current National Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification.
- Must be willing to work at all four locations:
Myrtle Beach, Conway, Loris, and Murrells Inlet.
- Adhere to department policies, time‑keeping, and attendance guidelines.
- Wear employee and follow dress code policy.
- Obtain missing medical records, lab, pathology, and x‑ray reports before the next physician visit.
- Escort patients to physician exam area.
- Ensure pre‑exam labs and x‑rays are obtained according to protocols.
- Take vital signs and weight; record height on initial visit and subsequently as needed.
- Assist with maintaining vaccination and medication records.
- Assist with renewing prescriptions.
- Verify necessary information and record it in the medical record.
- Prepare patient for exam, depending on patient and clinical condition.
- Assist patients with dressing as appropriate for the exam; another Medical Assistant/LPN may be required in the exam room.
- Respond to the expeditor in a timely fashion.
- Track patient from entry to next point of service.
- Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, relaying messages to staff.
- Schedule tests, shots, and appointments as requested.
- Maintain and update physician schedules; confirm appointments and answer patient queries.
- Chart records as needed for communication.
- Transfer patients from physician to oncology nurse so physicians can focus on other matters; escort patients through the clinic as needed; complete items requiring clinical follow‑up.
- Complete billing events before shift end accurately and timely.
- Remain in the pod dictation area until all patients have been seen and all tasks—including reminders—are completed.
- Administer shots under physician or nurse direction; ensure a practitioner has assessed the patient and given instruction before administration.
- Perform data entry of labs after physician review.
- Review registration sheet with new patients; enter medication and allergy information in EMR/chart; complete shot records and offer vaccinations as directed.
- Assist the lab and obtain blood from patients using venipuncture or fingerstick.
- Test specimens for hematology, urinalysis, and process all laboratory specimens.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the clinical laboratory.
- Perform troubleshooting of the hematology analyzer, including quality control as required.
- Report to Team Coordinator (or designee) once all work in the pod is complete.
- Attend staff meetings and cross‑functional team meetings.
- Complete daily checklists/OSHA checklists.
- Provide orientation and training to new Medical Assistant/LPN hires when directed.
- Manage high levels of stress and multitask effectively.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Prefer three (3) years of medical experience. - Certification:
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.
- Knowledge of health care field and medical specialty, and of specific assistance tasks related to the specialty.
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- Skill in performing assistance tasks appropriately; skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions; skill in patient education; skill in computer operations and applications.
- Ability to learn and retain patient‑care procedures; project a pleasant and professional image; plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks; demonstrate compassion and caring; maintain proficiency in phlebotomy, port flushes, and subcutaneous injections; read, understand and follow oral and written instructions; sort and file materials alphabetically or numerically; administer…
