  • Performs diagnosis procedures to assist the physicians, while adhering to radiation safety policies and functioning as a liaison between the patient and physician.
  • Responsible for administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients by I.V. injections, inhalations, or oral administering.
  • Will perform full range of nuclear medicine dynamic, static, SPECT imaging process.
  • Maintains compliance with radiation safety policies and documentation requirements for waste disposal and administration of radiopharmaceuticals. Calculates quantity of radiopharmaceutical activity and volume to be administered during procedures.
  • Explains procedures to patients. Obtains appropriate Consent. Communicates patient’s status and information to the appropriate physician.
  • Identifies and ensures quality control measures for imaging and surveying equipment, dosing and radiation safety monitors, and recording results. Verifies scan quality and performs computer image and date processing.
  • Assists in maintaining laboratory inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Assays specimens and prepares standards in scintillation counting systems, performs calibration and records results.
  • Must follow all HIPAA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Training and/or experience in techniques of radiation safety, radiopharmaceuticals preparation and computer processing techniques for patient examinations and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required.
  • Completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine Training Program.
